catching UP with Leonardo diCaprio
November 8, 2008Love at first sight. I may not actually practice this in the real world, but this is how I am with onscreen actors. And I only have a very short list at that. My no. 1 is Johnny Depp. The newest on my list is Patrick Dempsey. And the only local one is Gary Estrada. Come to think of it, I only have three listed. hehe.
So now, it amazed me that I am getting the hots for Leonardo. Imagine, Titanic was so long ago that I almost forgot when I saw that movie. Let me browse the internet… there! 1997. It was almost 11 years ago when everyone was crazy about him and Titanic while I was totally ‘indifferent.’ I should not have blamed it on Leonardo, I know. I just thought that the ‘love’ shared by Jack and Rose was magical but it lacked the depth and essence of true love. (Yes, 11 years ago I was already a hopeless romantic. hehe.) So this blinded me into seeing Leonardo as the good actor that he is.
Blood Diamond was a revelation of many things to me. The movie is out of my league, and yet after watching it, it became my favorite of all time. (I realized I am more of a realist with a soft heart than a hopeless romantic.) One thing that turned this movie around was the performance of the actors. And Leonardo was just great! The boy I watched 11 years ago is now excellent at his craft. (After Titanic, I turned away from flicks with Leonardo on it. My loss, I know now.) He really was just great! — oppss.. I said that twice now. hehe.
I just watched Catch Me If You Can yesterday. And I’m liking Leonardo more and more. (Ning and Mhike, ang ganda nga ng movie!) I must say Leonardo is slowly captivating my heart… Now, I just have to watch more of him and he would have my heart completely.
Any movie suggestions?

yeah, Leo and Kate has something coming up. Just saw it online. Will wait for the free streaming. hehe.
his latest movie is Body of Lies. the usual story of war in iraq with CIA on the ground. Leonardo was astounding, as usual, in his portrayal as Roger Ferris. but i suggest you also take notice of mark strong. he’s the jordanian leader with powerful suit. im sure mano-notice mo din sya. great actor! love ko na sya
Try The Aviator, Gangs of New York, my personal favorite - The Departed.
I even watched What’s eating Gilbert Grape? He was so young though but he played an amazing role. He was with Johnny Depp who was so hot in the movie.
I’m still waiting for the Revolutionary Road.
Sorry, I’m a di Caprio junkie so I can’t help but write a comment.
)
Enjoy!
Posted by Rhea at December 13, 2008, 4:17 amI’ve always thought that Leo is one the finest actors around. I admire his movie choices. You have to look back at his old, old movies to see that even at a very young age, he already has a depth not common in Hollywood actors. Try looking for “Basketball Diaries.’ But stay away from “Total Eclipse.’ Baka mawala crush mo sa kanya. He he

You must see Leonardo in The Departed! He is damn sexy in this role where he plays an undercover cop. He’s not only goodlooking and sexy but a fantastic actor. Always was since, even before Titanic. My actual favorite Leonardo performances are What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, Marvin’s Room, and now The Departed.
